Free Trade Agreements: Qualification & Certificate Generation (USMCA Focus) 3-Hour Practical Workshop

This hands-on workshop provides trade compliance professionals with the practical tools and knowledge needed to confidently navigate USMCA qualification and certification requirements. Participants will work through real-world scenarios involving costed bills of material, applying the appropriate methods for determining origin, including tariff shift, regional value content (RVC), and net cost, to achieve audit-ready results.

Topics Covered:

  • USMCA rules of origin and preference criteria
  • Qualifying costed bills of material step by step; leveraging an automated qualification platform via the WTC Denver's industry partner
  • Methods for determining origin (tariff shift, RVC, net cost)
  • Generating compliant certificates of origin
  • Recordkeeping and data retention requirements
  • Preparing for audits and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • Common compliance pitfalls and how to avoid them

By the end of this session, participants will be able to qualify goods under USMCA, generate accurate certificates, and maintain the documentation necessary to support a defensible compliance program.

Workshop Deliverable: As part of the workshop, participants will build a standard operating procedure for USMCA qualification that can be incorporated directly into their compliance manual. Attendees leave not only with a clear understanding of whether their goods qualify, but with a documented process they can immediately put to work in their business.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to qualify goods under USMCA, generate accurate certificates, and maintain the documentation necessary to support a defensible compliance program.
